types of time travel
.. I walk backwards into the future with my eyes fixed on the past ..
- In the western languages time moves from left to right
- In Hebrew time moves from right to left
- In Mandarin Chinese time moves from top to bottom (下次, 上次)
- In Aymara, Quechua, and Maori, time moves backwards
- "nayra", the Aymara word for past, literally means "front"
- "kia whatatomuri te haere whakamua" in Maori means "I walk backwards into the future with my eyes fixed on the past")
- In ASL, time moves in a line from behind to in front of a person
We can't change the past, but we can change how we understand the past. We can withdraw or insert new potential into the past.
